KARACHI: Pakistan and West Indies have secured their spots in the final of the Over40s Cricket Global Cup setting the stage for an anticipated showdown.
In the semi-finals, Pakistan emerged victorious against Australia, while West Indies triumphed over the USA. The final match is scheduled to take place on Monday and will be broadcast live on Geo Super.
In the first semi-final clash between Pakistan and Australia, Pakistan exhibited a dominating performance. Batting first, Pakistan set a formidable target of 401 runs for Australia to chase. The standout player of the match was Abdul Razzaq, who played a remarkable innings, amassing a staggering 195 runs from just 120 balls. Razzaq's innings included an impressive 22 fours and 11 sixes.
Additionally, Amjad Ali contributed significantly with a century, scoring 103 runs, while Tasavur Abbas added a fiery 67 runs off only 23 balls. Pakistan concluded their innings at a commanding 400 runs for the loss of six wickets. Chris Dickson and Steve Falson of Australia managed to take two wickets each. Abdul Qadir's outstanding performance stood out as he took five wickets for Pakistan and the home side won by 252 runs
Abdul Qadir has been a consistent match-winner for Pakistan in this tournament, having secured a total of 22 wickets in eight matches so far.
In the other semi-final, West Indies faced off against the USA and secured their spot in the final with a three-wicket victory. The USA posted a total of 146 runs while batting first, with Captain Muhammad Farrukh being the top scorer with 52 runs.
Mahendra Nagamoto of West Indies proved to be a game-changer by taking six wickets during the match. West Indies successfully chased down the target in the 34th over, with Dave Clement delivering an outstanding performance with 47 runs.
